Buffy, the tall yellow hen laid an egg one day and left it. Precious, the black hen took over and began the brooding process. I had no idea. I thought she was brooding her own egg. Buffy lays white eggs and Precious lays smaller brown eggs. The white egg hatched and out came Baby Boy, the red and black rooster. Son of Buffy but raised by Precious. Was it an adoption? Was is some hierarchy between them, or perhaps from boredom? Everyday they ate together and Baby Boy became their protector. I was thinking of turning this into a children’s story to help kids understand adoption and fostering.
