Planted in memory. I wrote this free verse poem about the sunflowers I planted for a mother figure that I lost. At the celebration of life we were given little glass jars filled with sunflower and wild flower seeds to plant in her memory. Have you ever planted flowers or trees in memory of a loved one? I was inspired to write this free verse as I watched the sunflowers finally bloom.
Sunflowers in her Heart.
Celebrating the life of a mother
Whose Radiance bloomed in the sunlight.
Mourning seeds dug into the earth
Sprouting memories with the blossom
of Birth.
A tall sturdy stalk roots into growth.
A tempting sky of encouragement and oath.
Woven Clouds and heavy drops land,
Fertile roots blossom, a sunflower grand.
The cycle is near, the seeds will Fall.
Over bloomed petals spirits will recall.
Returning rains slow, the soil left forsaken.
Serenity braces the stems Unshaken.
Her wisdom, her voice, her smile now apart,
Yet sunflowers bloom with her love in my heart.
